“Hugh Bilecky is what you call “A FIND.” A definite throw-back to the highest craftsmanship as we knew it. Hugh rebuilt my deck and at the same time created a perfect screen porch which has become a three-season room that I literally spend more time in than any other room in my home. Honest, trustworthy and reliable, not to mention a certain sincerity to make sure you’re over the top with his knowledge and ability. He came to me highly recommended and surpassed all expectations.”

“Hugh did a whole-house restoration and renovation of our 260-year-old house that had sustained damage from a burst pipe and suffered from years of shoddy, short-cut fixes. In addition to ripping out 2 bathrooms, we also put in a brand new kitchen, built multiple closets, installed new wood flooring, shored up old staircases, secured sagging ceilings, repaired architectural details on the exterior, and measured and installed new custom storm sashes for 26 mismatched windows. Together, we re-designed and built a new fireplace surround and masterminded floor plans for bathrooms that were quirky and tight. After nearly a year, we had a beautifully restored antique home and a friendship.

Hugh is a master builder and experienced general contractor. Things are always done right, done well, and done according to best practices for carpentry and construction. Hugh's workmanship is beautiful and solid. As a general contractor, Hugh is responsive, reliable, and well organized. Every detail is attended to and followed up on - if a decision needs to be made, Hugh presents all the options so that you know what you're getting into. Communication is excellent. Every detail of the building process is well thought out, well planned, and explained in clear terms. Sub-contractors were excellent. Hugh has an eye for what's proportional and fitting in a house, he's very good at design and his aesthetic is classic and simple. He really listens to what you want and translates that into a truly beautiful finished product.”

Hugh is thoughtful, intuitive, and super easy to work with. We went through some really stressful times getting this house done and through it all, Hugh was a steady,  presence. Hugh's honest and straightforward manner fosters trust in him and in the work he does.

Without any reservation, I have highly recommended Hugh to many of my friends and neighbors.”

“Hugh, thanks again for helping me “transform” XX Green Hills Rd., Mendham, NJ over the past 15 years.

Aside from the smaller stuff (replacing windows correctly, re-flashing various locations on the roof to fix the leaks caused by the less-than-competent roofers, fixing the trim work in the kitchen caused by the cut-rate kitchen installers, jacking-up the house to repair rotted sills (guess this wouldn’t be considered “small”), I really appreciated the big jobs.

The back yard that you “constructed” (I forget how many yards/truckloads of fill) was perfectly sloped and drained. Had to be 150’ by 50’.

The red western cedar and white cedar 44’x 13 deck was probably the most impressive job. Every joint was perfect and unlike the prior deck, you attached it to the house correctly so that it didn’t rot the sills! (again)

In a world where EVERYONE is price-conscious and looks only at cost – they always get less than what they pay for. I’ll gladly pay a 20% premium to have the job done “perfectly”.

I’m thinking about buying land and building a house here in VA, but I’m definitely wary: can you travel to VA?

Appreciated the craftsmanship.”

“Caperton Company was contracted to remodel my early 1900's house in 2000. This included a new kitchen and dining room, adding central air, updating the electrical system, as well as raising ceilings, and shoring up a rotted and sinking foundation. This was a project that needed a highly-skilled Contractor due to the age of the house and to correct a number of mistakes from previous Contractors.  The work went very well and the end result was excellent.

In 2007, I purchased a large lot on a small mountain. Hugh Bilecky and Caperton Company were contracted to help design and build an entirely new house that was to be 6,250 square feet in an English Manor style. This included all excavation, drainage, a very long driveway, terraces with curtain drains, deep swales above and on the sides of the property for water run-off, columns, stone walls, walkways, and a detailed Patio's. The outside walls are mostly stucco, stone, and brick, with some cedar. Two balconies were also included. The house has random width White Oak floors, a Vermont Timber Frame great room with 28’ ceilings, European plaster walls, all custom detailed wrought iron railings, large custom doors and windows, a high-end kitchen with 100-year-old Chestnut cabinets, and all custom sinks and bathrooms.

In addition, there are extensive lights and lanterns inside and out. The house has two large custom gas fireplaces, a Buderus furnace, six zones, and is Energy Star Rated. The house and landscaping are exceptional!  The details and quality are fantastic. Caperton Company was competitively priced and finished within budget. I highly recommend Hugh Bilecky and Caperton Company based upon the workmanship and quality of their building.”
